A plumber, Moen burned his hands when he turned on a faucet. That was 1937, and he vowed to create a single-handled faucet that would allow for better control over the water that came out. His first single-handled model came out in 1947, and today 70 percent of kitchen faucets sold are single-handled. Moen died April 17 at home in Florida. He was 86.
