The three German rocket scientists all died last week in Alabama. The trio were part of the team led by Wernher von Braun which developed the V-1 and V-2 rockets. After World War II, they (and 124 other German rocket scientists) came to the U.S., where they worked on the U.S. space program, contributing to the Redstone, Jupiter, Saturn 1, and Saturn V rocket programs.

Nowak, 89, died July 7; Paetz, 88, died July 9, and Schuler, 83, died July 10.
